 Three sponsorships awarded by Kyogle Tidy Towns

Kyogle Youth Ventures, Kyogle HighSchool and Kathryn Kermode have been awarded sponsorships in the first round ofthe Kyogle Tidy Towns’ sponsorship scheme. 

Kyogle Youth Ventures (KYV)has been awarded $500 to help KYV student leaders to mentor younger children inKyogle who are identified as being vulnerable or at risk.  The money will be used to fund monthlyoutings which give the younger children access to their mentors in anon-threatening environment. 

Kyogle High School willreceive $250 towards a joint environmental project with the Youth EnvironmentCouncil, the P&C, Tidy Towns and the Kyogle Garden Club.  The project aims to improve biodiversity andbeautify the rundown gardens around the high school.  Money will be spent on soil, mulch, plantsand retaining wall blocks.

Kathryn Kermode ofCawongla receives $250 for her project called Koala Country which aims to raise awareness of Kyogle’s koalapopulation and to generate eco-tourism in Kyogle.  “Several koalas have been sighted in Geneva,”says Kathryn.  “A koala has also been seenat midnight at the town clock in Kyogle’s main street!”  Kathryn will use her sponsorship money toprint an educational leaflet called Kyogle’sKoala Trail.
